DATE2007

The Fashion District is a 26 block area situated in the eastern quadrant of the inner-city, in an area traditionally associated with the garment sector. Iyer were appointed to prepare an Urban Design Framework for the district that included the identification of public spaces that can tie the district into the broader inner-city. The objectives of the broader Fashion District initiative were to create a safe, secure, attractive and functional district; to afford access to social and economic activities; and to maximise economic growth.

In addition to the broader framework, Iyer were commissioned to undertake the design of the public environment upgrade for the core area of the district, around the Fashion Kapitol, linking the district to the nearby High Court Precinct.
